Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental illness that causes repeated unwanted thoughts or sensations (obsessions/intrusive thoughts). It also can give you an urge to do something over and over again (compulsions). Some people struggle with one or both. Gender and Sexuality (LGBTQIA+)

Although a person’s sexual or romantic orientation or gender identity may not be a source of distress, people may find that the social stigma of living as a minority is a source of stress or anxiety.

When seeking therapy, whether for issues associated with one’s sexual, romantic, or gender identity or for concerns related to mental health, finding a qualified mental health professional who has experience and familiarity with the challenges members of the LGBTQIA community often face can be critical to successful therapy outcomes.


Trauma is an emotional and psychological response to an event Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical. Longer term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. There is no reason to continue experiencing this alone.
